Bush House

Bush house was built in 1878 for Asahel Bush.  Bush founded the Statesman newspaper and the Ladd and Bush Bank.  Asahel Bush bought 100 acres from missionary David Leslie in 1860.  He built the house 1877 to 1878,  which was designed by Wilbur F. Boothby.  The property not only featured a house, it also had a barn, a greenhouse,  gardens, an orchid, and fields. In the 1940s the Bush family sold the house to the city, and told them to call the area 'Bush's Pasture Park.'  Bush house now serves as a public museum.
